It depends. I just purchased a 222 from Great Britain, but the seller has someone over there that can rework the motors to operate on our 110 V service. Also, machines that were made for export to Canada and Australia came with 110 volt motors, or had them added when they arrived. I have another 222 that came with a 110 volt motor. It was sold here in Canada originally.
The reason the little freearms aren't so plenty in the United States is because at the time they were being produced, the zigzag came into being and was the hot item. A little Feathweight with a freearm, at the price they were selling just wasn't as appealing and wasn't marketed in the States. It's a lot easier to find them up here in Canada. And they're terrific for doll clothing, kids clothing and mending in awkward places...I really like mine.
