Rose, I laughed at your message about the middle schoolers. I worked at a private school for children with learning disabilities for four years. A majority of the kids not only had learning challenges, but also had behavioral problems to boot. I taught spelling in the oldest group, which was the middle school-aged class. A challenge? Yes. :shock: But I LOVED working with them and cried for weeks after leaving the school (I had to find a job with paychecks that would actually allow me to eat and pay bills!).

Thanks for the Civil War era quilting book reference. I'd like to check into it. It's funny.....I hated history in high school, but now I can't read enough of it.
