I found a book at Borders on clearance for 5.99 called Better Homes and Gardens Quilting Pieces of the Past.
It has 54 quilts in it from 175 years of quilting. Sections in it are 1830-1860, 1860-1890, 1890-1920, 1920-1950, 1950 to present.
It is a great find. Has history and patterns in it. the very first pattern is the T-square. Then criss-cross. Then flying geese. Then 9 patch. Then saw tooth star. Then irish chain. Then robbing peter. Then peony. These all dated from 1830-1860.
It is a hardback originally priced at 29.95.
Blocks from 1920 to 1950 are, Brides bouquet, butterfly, carpenters square, churn dash, crazy ann, dogwood, 8 point all over, flower garden, geometric puzzle, kaleidoscope, new york beauty, schoolhouse, star diamond, and tulip garden.
