The Bow-tucks bag I am currently carrying I made last summer. I am not sure of the dimensions of the base but I used sturdy cardboard from a box of athletic shoes. It has worked out perfectly. I just glued some of my fabric to it and I have not had any problems at all with it bending. It is much cheaper than one of the Bag-E bottoms (although they are very nice).
