I wish that I would think to lay mine out, because I would guess that it would lay better, when I am sandwiching it. I just use it straight from the bag, and pin like crazy. It helps if I have someone to help stretch it, also.
I will keep an eye on this question, and maybe I will change my bad habit.
Try putting it in the dryer first to get the creases/wrinkles out
