What about brushing Mod Pog over the fabric when finished. Would be pretty and easy to clean.
Did some research on the internet and did find an article that said to use Mod Podge to make it washable. I would think that would help secure the fabric to make it less of a fire hazard. I also would think that the fabric should be trimmed back to just barely wrap over the edge of the plate to keep the fabric away from the wiring.
The fabric isn't around any wiring. There is a box in there that covers the wiring. I never have to touch that with the plate.
