Let's not assume she doesn't need one if she has to think about it. She might not know the advantages of having such a machine and therefore couldn't make an educated decision on buying one. ;)

I don't personally own one. I don't have a need for it because I don't mind cutting out my own shapes. But I could think of a few reasons for maybe getting one.

*If you had arthritis in the hands or something else that would make it difficult to rotary cut or use scissors.
*Were making quilts that require a lot of the same pieces.
*Not accurate with cutting (rotary or scissors)
*Save time by not cutting out the shapes yourself.
