Polly you are a kick. I am so glad as I too pick scraps from my trash. Thursday at quilting I saw a piece in their trash that was just georgous. I had it out and in my hand and then thought, what am I doing.!! You know how hard it was to put it back and walk away? You scrap block is lovely. I prefer a lot of string and scrapy type quilts. I gues living in the 30s I learned do not waste material.
