I have a couple spools of neutrals, but have more colors than neutrals. Most of my fabric stash is colorful. I have a ton of plastic bobbins and I have 2 machines that use them, I have quite a lot of the metal bobbins also that go with my other machines. I don't have a separate bobbin winder. I would say get colors of thread that go with the colors you like working with. Just my opinion.
