I have made several rag quilts and you really don't need a pattern. I used 7 in squares of all three fabrics. I usually used cotton, flannel for the center and another piece of cotton for the back. I use about a 3/4 in seam and do not sew the x thru the center. After you have it all put together then just clip your seam about every 1/4 of an inch. I suggest that you purchase some snipper expecially for rag quilts as this will really save your hands. I bought my fiskers rag snips at JoAnns and used a 50% off coupon so they only ended up costing about $9. Hope that this helps if you have any more questions just ask.
