Above the 'Darn/Norm' button you will see the letters L M R. The thin ring on the outside of those letters is what you turn to change needle positions.
To move the lever, which changes your stitich width and is leaning to the right in the picture, you press the button on the left hand side of the lever and slide it to the left.
