I have the Orbital sharpener and it does work but doesn't take out big nicks. A newly sharpened blade is maybe 3/4's as good as new. I usually sharpen them before they are completely dull and this helps to prolong their cutting life. I find that I can sharpen most blades three times before discarding them. The sharpener was $37.98 Canadian so they are not cheap.
I have had a sharpener for about 10 hrs. Don't know the brand. I do the same as Shelbie. It helps to "clean" them up a bit and prolong the blade life. I can usually get another couple months out of an Olfa blade. Emily
