Well, yes and no.

A king size sheet by itself, just one plain piece of fabric is going to take around 8 yards of quilting fabric to make. That's without any seam allowances (obviously you have to join the yardage) but you get the idea.

So even if you start putting together Lemoyne or Ohio Star blocks, the fabric quantities start adding up. Maybe not to 16 yards, but the more pieces and intricacies in the block, the more fabric you'll use up.

That's why the background fabric requirement for the Dear Jane is 15 yards. It's all those freaking seam allowances. ;-)
