My husband built me a U shaped table a few years ago. I love it because the left side of the "U" supports a quilt if I am FMQing, or a big top if I am piecing a bed sized quilt. The L shape will do the same thing. My table is waist high, so I can stand and sew, or I can use a tall bar stool to sit and sew. And because my husband built it, it was pretty darn inexpensive.
