Same here. Way too early if you ask me. When I was in school (in the stone age) we went back the Wed. after Labor Day.
Not where I grew up in Maine, back in the stone age. We went back towards end of July or early August but where let out a month to six weeks later to harvest potatoes on farms. As kids from age 5 on up we worked the fields from 5:30 until dark five days a week and if we had rain we had to work weekends as well to ensure the potatoes were all harvested before the cold weather set in.
