A few years ago when I just returned to my sewing machine, after a 20-yr hiatus, our LQS had a BOM, so I had to ask what the heck that meant. Actually it was a Buck a Block, per month. If we missed the month, we could still get it but it cost $3. If we sent our husband or a friend to get it, it cost $3. they had 3 color-ways made up, and I chose the "Brights", which have a W-O-W with a different bright color each month, all using Thangles to make HST, which i didn't know anything about. By the time it was a year later, I saw a lady bring in her finished quilt to show the LQS owner. I didn't know we were supposed to do that! :) I didn't see or realize that we had any additional directions for finishing it into a quilt, and besides that, they didn't have any of MY fabric left! However, I had established a good enough relationship with them that I could jokingly say 'this is all a trick, a big ploy, to get ME to come in here at least once a month and pick up something besides my block for a buck. Of course that's the plan! I still haven't done anything with my 12 blocks, but I will . . . . next year . . . . I think.
