I've been job-hunting for a position in my field of accounting ever since graduating college in 2009. I was initially hampered in college by lack of a driver's license (my personal fears - obtained junior year) and I didn't have my own car until late 2010. I didn't have internships over the summer, instead either working or taking care of my grandparents, depending on the summer.

I applied to places in large spurts and it began to become disheartening as application after application went out and I never heard a single call back. I was working meantime at Animal Control as clerical and very grateful to have a job, but the tedious nature of the work and the relatively low pay with student loans weighing on me made for some stress. My record is spotless, working for the police department, so at least I'll never have any troubles with background checks or anything of the sort.

A week and a half ago on Saturday, I went through another routine application marathon. That Monday, I received a call back. My first call back. They scheduled an interview for Wednesday and my employer gave me time off, wishing me the best. That went really well and I had my second interview on Tuesday. Technically, the accounting department head was supposed to meet with every applicant for her department before hiring, but she was super busy and wasn't able to make the interview. I called up on Wednesday to schedule my third interview... and was instead HIRED!

My last day is the 28th. Three friends arrive from out-of-state that night. They stay for a week. I start the following Monday on the 8th, in an entry-level position with growth potential and tons of overtime.

I'm just so happy!
