This is a picture of one of the quilts I inherited from my Greataunt. She and my grandmother sold eggs and beans and/or traded them for scraps and fabric. They always took Moma with them and I can remember going with them a few times when I was young. Matter of fact...I got one of those curly perms when I was 5 or 6 from Grandma trading eggs for it. Does anyone remember those octopus looking curlers they used to put your hair in...well that's what they used on me. I'll never forget it.
Grandma and my Aunt used a lot of upholstery scraps. I grew up under these quilts and they were so warm.
When I found this one today I was so excited to see the backing...I thought that looks like some of the reproduction 30's fabric ...but...it's not repro it's the real thing!!!Look how well it's held up through all these years and many washings.
