I've never washed my phone, but my brother did. So sorry. My only suggestion is to check all pockets before putting things in the washer. I had to do this years ago because of an ink pen DH left in a cream colored shirt - rest of load was whites. Then became lazy again, until April of this year, had to buy a new washer. Instructions said to not even leave coins in clothes, because it could damage the new (modern) non agitator. After what I spent on this washer - bought an extra large tub, just for quilts, I definitely check all pockets pants and shirts before it goes into the wash.
Just hope next time you remember to check for your phone.
