many times they were made just to show off the embroidery skills of the maker. They were often used for covering the grand piano or pump organ in the "front parlor"

I had one as a child living with my grandmother. It was made by her maiden aunt. She gave it to me to take back home and my mother put it in a washing machine and ruined it. I cried for days. It was so beautiful and I loved it so much.

It is really beautiful. I vote for the historical society.

Are there any names or history that you could follow up on??
