Put water and some Arm & Hammer baking soda in the pot, then put your slow cooker on cook for a few hours. LOVE that baking soda. Gets all sorts of baked on stuff off. I don't keep dryer sheets in the house because of the scent, but that sounds like an interesting fix. Good luck!
