Thanks everyone for the advice! :D

Instead of pinning all of the flower pieces down, could you just applique the center to the flower, then the flower to the background. I'm just wondering if this will distort the flower or if there is another reason why you would have to pin it all down first.

The background is a pretty big piece - so I'm trying to make it easier, if I applique the center of the flower to the flower, it would certainly be alot less awkward.
