I pin my pieces first as I am usually needing to keep my 'whatevers' in place and they not move on me as I sew....which could happen to me!(Travels all over great too like this)LOL It also helps me to decide the layers in what I am sewing on....Try the video 'Eat Your Cake The Piece Of Cake Way'....excellent for ideas, etc. Check your local library for it.
