I don't want it to be to bold, i will being some applique on the top after it is put together. I also don't want it to look like a solid piece of fabric, either.
If you don't want the contrast between the dark and light halves to be too stark and want it to be a softer contrast your fabrics work nicely together. If you want a subtle background for applique these fabrics should work beautifully.
