Any time I am adding a cold meat (chicken, ground beef) to a crockpot dish I microwave the liquid in my largest dish to boiling and then add the cold meat, stir and microwave again until boiling. Then into the crockpot with the other ingredients. As long as you take turkey off the bone and dice - you can then go quilt for 7 hours before you have to add that spaghetti.
