I'm kind of a purist with regard to words and how they're used, and I consider "Jewel tones" to be the tones of the jewel stones - emerald, ruby, saphire etc. Pretty much primary and secondary colors, no pastels or muted tones.

Kona solids, lots of batiks (I'm even starting to see more true red batiks), Kaffe Fasset re just a few.
