I have, in the past, done WW. It really does work! I think the going to the weekly meetings keeps you more accountable. It should help you to rethink your eating habits. That said, the weekly fee is salty (but there again is the premise that you will stick to something if you are having to pay for it).
I think it all boils down to eating proper portion sizes (and we Americans seem to super-size everything) and getting enough exercise. Oh, yes...and like the above posters mentioned...watch out for those diet sodas! I am a Dt Pepsi freak...and I am now down to one small dt pepsi a day. That is quite an accomplishment for me!!! Instead, I drink water with a paper-thin lemon slice all day long. Amazing the difference that right there will make!
