I've made a bunch of these. The D9P is one of my favorites and I prefer the patterned design over scrappy.

For the quickest method, you can stach n wack 3 fabrics. You will need 2 strips of "A" fabric, 3 of your "Focus" fabric, and 4 of fabric "B". I use width of fabric, 6 inch strips. Then make strips sets: Set one and 3 are: A,B, F. Then 1 of B,F,B.

Cut strip sets into 6 inch segments. Then assemble your nine-patch blocks through chain piecing. Then make the + cuts, swap, and once again chain piece the "super blocks".
