This one looks gorgeous! Could be done in any color, of course, to coordinate with bridesmaid dresses.
Have you actually made one? If so, did it turn out to be as pretty as the one in the picture?
OH MY!! I made one almost exactly like this a few years ago.. just whipped it up for a formal bag to match my dress for "my mother of the bride dress" at sons wedding.... I got many compliments on it. In my case I used a scrap of the dress fabric ( crepe back satin-- in silver/grey) and I used a piece of matching silver/grey lace-- from the sleeves of the dress) to cover the fabric. The satin showing thru the lace was very nice. and then just draw stringed the own thing up with narrow ribbon ( as the closure of the bag), and I used a 1/2 inch ribbon braided with a strand of silver pearls and a strand of white pearls for the " strap".. I still have and carry the bag to fancy shindigs...
I also have experience with this design. Nearly 10 years ago now, my boyfriend's mom made me a small purse like this to match my prom dress. Good memories. If you use the right fabrics it'll be beautiful! Oh, and with this pattern you won't have to mess with zippers.
I think you should stick to your idea of doing them in silver 'cause then the bridesmaids can use the purses again, too. Silver matches lots of other things.
