I just discovered
www.Connectingthreads.com has a design table that converts your selections to gray scale so you can determine your selection's relative color/hue values.
The Design Table link [Add to Design Table] is hard to see --at least it was for me.
You'll find it right under the fabric swatch picture in a faded brown.
