You must be young!!! A mangle is a type of ironing roll about 3' long. It has roll of padded fabric and you bring a cover down over it that forms to the roll. I remember my girlfriend's mother having one in her kitchen when she ironed clothes. Look it up on Google and see if they have a picture of one. It was so neat!! That was about 1956 for me.
