I do know when the cloves sit around a while they start to "grow" Do you think I should try planting that and seeing if I get some garlic of my own!! I'm in Southern California so your garlic may not do as well out here.
You don't get winter freezes like we do here in NY, so if what you have is not as winter hardy as mine, you'll still probably be ok. No harm in planting a few cloves, right? If they do well, you will probably have 8 times as many next year, enough to do an actual "garlic patch"!
