do you have your instruction book? For me the hardest part was getting the fabric and whatever I was using for the backing lined up and centered so that my design would be centered where I wanted it. I started out putting designs on T=shirts, then did about 5o napkins with comic Christmas designs. The built-in Disney designs are easy to use once the hoop is in place. The hoop is easy to attach once the fabric is in the hoop.
