The clamp pieces are cut down one side and a .5 inch piece is cut out, and the edges smoothed, so it will clamp over the solid pipes. I could take pictures if you like. I will help any way I can.[/quote]
I am so sorry, I got the measurements backwards and wrong. Pipes are 1 5/8" and clamps are 1.3/4". Mine fit tight. Don't forget to smooth the edges after cutting strips out for clamps. Light sand paper will work.
