I have a Horn sewing cabinet and there is a perspex insert that slots in between the cabinet and the machine. The vinyl just adheres to it, and so it doesn't move !!
Double sided tape will do it.
I also have used silicone sheets designed for lining ovens - they work a dream too, and a loads cheaper than anything sold for quilters.
