A mug rug is what you get when a placemat and a coaster have a baby! lol I usually make mine about 6 x 9 inches, although I made one in the shape of a heart for my July Secret Pal that was a little bit larger. There is no hard and fast rule about the size or shape. Just have fun with them:-)
And there's a gazillion threads with them, here on the QB. Some of those threads have some terrific links.
Really ... you just sew a bunch of pieces together and make a mini quilt. A great way to practice a technique or use up orphan blocks. Or to just have some fun putting things together in no particular fashion. Anything goes!
