It regulates the voltage going thru the pedal to the motor. Just like a dimmer switch for your lights in the home. Your machine plugs into the dimmer switch,,the dimmer switch plugs into the wall. therefore it regulates the voltage going thru the cord to your pedal only allowing enough speed set on the dimmer switch.

Kenmore sewing machine in a cabinet and would love to use it for FMQ but even a little pressure on the foot pedal and you are going 150 mph. This may just be the best solution. I was thinking about tightening the belt but I'm concerned how that would affect the motor. Thanks for the great idea!!
