A woman I work with came to me a while back and said that after her mother passed away that she was going through her things and found a bag of some old quilt blocks. She wanted to know if I could make them into a quilt for her. Her mother didn't quilt, so she believes that her grandmother or great-grandmother must have made the blocks. They were all bowtie blocks and were all hand-stitched. From the fabrics, they appear to be early 1900s-1920s.

Below is the quilt that I made for her out of them. When she brought me the bag of blocks, she said "Here's my bag of ugly blocks." I don't think she had much hope of them turning into anything nice. I think she'll be pleased with the outcome. :D I pondered several different layouts and then decided on the pattern shown. I just did a meandering quilting all over it, and it measures 60" x 72".
