To follow up, I did get this iron and I love it. It's heavy and it gets hot. It does not have automatic shut off. I've been making Dear Jane blocks and after I finish a block I put it on a folded towel, lightly spray it with starch and press hard - press down, don't move the iron back and forth. I end up with a totally flat block, and some of those blocks have 10+ seams in them. The iron is great! I got it online at Home Depot, about $28 with free shipping.
