Thourghly wet the quilt in warm water. Lay it flat on a table outside in the sun and take a bar of Sunlight Laundry soap and very gently rub the fabric with the soap. Leave it out in the sun. Dip into a pail of warm water and redo with soap again. Leave in the sun again. You may have to do this a few times. Try not to rub the fabric. Once the stains are gone wash very gently and be sure to rinse thoroughly. I did this recently with an eighty year old christening gown and it came out snow white.
