Thank You Everyone with all the compliments and suggestions. My head is swimming, but so anxious to try another scrappy quilt.
I will be trying out your suggestions on placing some fabric behind it to see what a border would look like, and never knew that the border would emphasize a color in the quilt - that's good to know.
I am leaning towards no border, but will do as also suggested, sew around to stabilize it before adding binding. I am thinking that I can use my serger and a 3 thread seam ?? to do this.
I have it laying out on the bed in spare bedroom and keep looking at it, and thinking of my accomplishment of actually making something so very different for me - guess you can teach an old dog new tricks.
