Bernina has a foot that does that for you. It is a disc shape with a tube-like opening in the side and a hole in center for needle. Feed yarn, fine cording, etc in the side and out the bottom. Forget what it's called but if the yarn can fit it is great. Never thought to use it for stained-glass work.
