I haven't read all of the entries but if someone hasn't already told you back in the day when they used those feed sacks they didn't necessarily have quilt "bats" like we have now and frequently the quilts would just be stuffed with loose cotton. I have a couple that my grand and great grandmother made that are done that way.. and their quilting was very close together and lots of times just small "squares" or diamonds to hold it in place as it would shift very easily. You found a wonderful treasure I recognize many of those fabrics and yes, they are feed sacks and flour sacks,, etc.
