Because of the length of the shuttle bobbin, it probably holds more thread than a "conventional" bobbin. I haven't "measured" it, but it does hold a lot of thread.

I hate to say I haven't cleaned my machine and sewn with it yet. I sewed a sample seam and it was very nice, but I won't use it heavily without cleaning it. I like the looks of it. It is just so cute. I have a feeling it will be a back up machine to the 301. I can't imagine that shuttle holds much thread.
