Don't you need to make a quilt top and bottom and at least spray baste them to the batting!!

I said spray basting for a quick fix (part of my bad joke). I do NOT spray baste. I have tried pinning, used the batting that has the chemicals in it already and gets ironed (which doesn't hold), and hand basting.
My favorite method of basting is the Sharon Schamber's method. Here is the link to my latest quilt that shows the in progress basting:
