I do this too - even when I use it to iron CLOTHES! As little as possible, yeuch! We have really hard, limey water (probably because we're limeys? :lol: ) and if I put it in the iron, it would leave residues. :D If you were to put water in your iron I would certainly tip it out everytime. It can leave deposits as it evapourates therefore intensifying the level of mineral salts. Depends how expensive your iron was and how attached you are to it - mine has the option of being cordless and I don't know where I can find another one so I'd be devastated if it broke!
