It is feminine for me as I usually go for darker or muted colors. I do like them though.
I don't know if the block has a name. It's from the book Jelly Roll Quilts and they call it Spiral Strips.
It wasn't difficult to do at all and with the pre-cut strips everything went together just right with hardly any fuss.
