Chocolate Chip Picnic Bars
2/3 cup Crisco Shortening
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup firmly packed brown sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
1 cup flour
1/2 tsp. salt
3/4 tsp. baking soda
1 cup rolled oats (quick oats) uncooked
1 pkg. (6 oz.) semi sweet chocolate chips
1/2 cup chopped nuts (optional)
Preheat oven to 350.
Beat shortening and sugars together until creamy. Beat in eggs and add vanilla. Sift together flour, salt, soda. Stir in flour mixture. Stir in oats, chocolate chips and nuts. Spread dough into a well greased 13 x 9 inch baking pan (I sprayed sides and bottom of pan with Pam original spray)
Bake for 25 minutes.
While warm sprinkle with confectioners sugar and cut into bars. Store in tightly covered container.
I make this recipe all the time, hubby doesn't like the confectioners sugar on the top (as he says too messy to take to work)
I have also added this to the recipe blog so you can print it out.
I will give you credit for your recipe with your quilting board name on the recipes
