I had to keep a squirt bottle handy, even when bed because mine would suddenly switch from cuddling and purring to attacking. It helped. An even better help has been a little sister for him. Someone had a cat who was being abused by her 4 year old son and I adopted her. Now the 2 cats are so busy wrestling with each other that he doesn't think about attacking me. I had thought about having him put down, but love him too much. I frequently got my bed sheets bloody and had serious cuts and bruises.
