If there is a large number, sometimes the person just opens stuff quickly and takes a more careful look later.
This was my thought too. And sometimes they just are not good at expressing their feelings in front of a group of people. I made one for a shower this weekend and it was the last gift opened-there were 70 people there. Although she said she loved it I know she was exhausted from standing up there for over an hour opening gifts and saying "AW cute" and "thank you" over and over again. Maybe that was true of your mommy-to-be. I hope so.
